In July 2010, we will be going to Peru to help the city of Huancayo, Peru. Huancayo is located in the Peruvian Andes Mountains and is one of the poorest cities in Peru. There is a high level of poverty in Huancayo due to the terrorism in the 1990s, the weak Peruvian economy, as well as the low quality in the educational system.

We will be teaching the orphans and other children from the poorest of families in Huancayo basic hygiene and AIDS awareness. We will use art to help the children grow.

Our goal is to better the community and change the staggering statistics of the people of Peru as it pertains to AIDS and general health.

We will be helping construct a new school in Huancayo as well when we are there.  This school will allow the children of Peru to grow into a more healthier world, filled with prosperity and love and grow as individuals.

We will be launching a new educational program, entitled: Valentina's Llama Lessons for the children and community of Peru.

UPDATE: The educational books are almost done, the pins are done, bracelets are done, the crayons and paper went to Peru today, the condoms arrived that will go to the community as well. Just awaiting for the soaps and Antibacterial wash to arrive to ship to Peru. Rather amazed what is cost to ship things to Peru, but well worth it for the kids, they so deserve everything.

Thank goodness for my Mom who helping assemble all the books, all 400 of them. I used a software program to make the book, printed them and now the assembly starts.

So much work had to get done to prepare for this trip and its almost all done.  I cannot wait to go and make a change in the community and lives of the kids and adults in Huancayo.

The books are copyrighted and are getting published in English and Spanish) so everyone can enjoy the lessons from Valentina the Llama.
